HI all, Im new in this forum. Very interesting n useful site. Can anyone advise me what is the main different between O2 atom n Dopod 818 which just launch... i saw the papers ad about Dopod and the spec n Atom is almost same. As told by the Dopod promoter , the function n spec is kinda better than Atom. Most important, the price is lots cheaper. Anyone can tell me more?

I suppose u want to compare with Dopod 818 Pro (aka HTC Prophet) rather than Dopod 818 (aka HTC Magician).

the main 2 difference between the Dopod 818 Pro and the XDA Atom is

- XDA Atom is using the miniSD slot, Dopod 818 Pro is using SDIO slot
- XDA Atom is using Intel XScale 416MHz, Dopod 818 Pro is using Texas Instrument OMAP 195MHz processor

ops...Sori is Dopod 818pro. Tks for the spec. Is the processor cause the price different?

IMO when O2 want to have a mini replacement, they will review both the htc and qtek set. and choose the set that is the best between the two.

is this true that 818 pro resolution is inferior? i mean does this translate into really a big difference on the visual experience, after all the screen is so small??

why does the pricing of this two sets differ so much?

based on Singtel 2 yr contract,
Dopod 818 pro = $998
Atom = $13++ ? (if this is true, it is even more expensive than the Dopod 838 ($1288)

what makes Atom so worth the extra bucks for one to fork out rather than going for 818 pro? any comments, thanks.

If I'm not wrong, O2 doesn't have the rights to 'choose'.

Thats the color not resolution. We can't comment much on this as you would have to go down to compare and see it yourself. This way you will know better.




1) Atom is smaller in size
2) Atom has FM Radio
3) Atom has faster processor

I believe O2 have the right to chose.
Here O2 is the customer to HTC so ofcos the customer can chose which supplier they want.

HTC also would be happy if O2 chose them then more sets can be sold worldwide.
