Read in today's Straits Times Newspaper about this new Seven.com's "Pushmail" service. The beta is now available in Singapore and supports multi-mobile platforms including WM 5 &6. The interesting thing is that it can handle Hotmails push as well. grin.gif Anybody tried it? Just downloaded it and installed.

The beta download is available at

Btw this beta program can last for 10 years! Stated in the FAQ. grin.gif

There is an expiration date built in, but for this beta program, we've set it for 10 years from the date of installation. So for practical purposes, the beta will be usable until we either shut it down or decide to migrate to something else for business reasons.

for those working in NUS, pushmail services is available for your exchange emails. Check with the ITCare.

Of couse, Pushmail needs data transmission by GPRS. But won't be much as attachments are not downloaded, just text msg.

Conclusions:

The software really works, now at last my Hotmails and Yahoo Emails are pushed to my WM Phone. Fleximail was not able to push Hotmails, but this McCoy really can...kudos to seven.com. It is the only software I tested so far than can push Hotmails to WM Phones.

The setup is incredibly easy too. Just type in your HP No, then for each Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo account your email address followed by the password and that's all! It is done

You can also set the max KB text download per email. Default is 10KB. This is to prevent very long text emails downloads to control GPRS charges. Also can set the schedule for start and end push time e.g. 6 am start 12 am end. Also can set different schedule for weekdays and weekend.

Further note:
After installing and set up, need to configure the push schedule otherwise it will not start working. grin.gif See some screenshots.

Blackberry's PushMail is server-based while Emoze requires a PC to be turned on all the time to download the e-mails to be pushed to the mobile device. It seems to me that Seven.com's solution is different. What's more bizarre is that this solution does not seem much different from scheduled Pull Mail to me. Did anybody figure out what is unique over here? confused.gif

Installed and deleted....Vicott is correct, no difference from scheduled pull mail and will cost me $$$ for GPRS when I am overseas. Wifi is free...heheheh.

any pushmail will need GPRS (and thus the charges), furthermore when you are oversea and you don't wish to have pushmail, I think you should have disable it when roaming.

WIFI will not work for any pushmail technology, simply because it's too power consuming and can't put the phone on standby.

as for seven, it could be a schedule pull between seven and your hotmail/gmail/etc and push/trigger your client to download when it arrives at seven server. You will never be replicate 'true pushmail' if the source mail server doesn't support it how exchange server does.

Yep....you are right and that's why the program was deleted and using just wifi to get my mail when required.

Actually, if you are using OWA, your PC does not have to be on in order for Emoze to work. Just choose the OWA option and you should be able to use it after the computer is off.

The Seven Beta is really useful, everyday without it will push to me my new Hotmails and Yahoo mails....works perfectly. Now I don't have to go online and check all of them to see if any new mails. Really save all the troubles. Pushing just text emails is not epensive in terms of GPRS charges. Text emails are all very small, anyway you can control the max kb per email pushed. grin.gif

Hi,

I just uninstalled my Seven pushmail program from my D810. However, there is a dead link on my phone screen which shows my email account and 1 unread email. Clicking on it, does not lead me to anywhere.

Right now, i can't access my sms messages from the screen itself.

Pls advise on how i can remove this dead link so that I can access to my sms messages.

Can anyone verify if this is a push or pull mail service?

If you have read some of the comments made by users in this thread, you will have noticed the client actually pulls e-mails autmatically in regular periods even though it is claimed to be a push mail client. The problem is that "Push Mail" is very loosely defined. Some of us have chosen to define it more strictly (i.e. server-based solution like Blackberry) and in that definition, this software does not fit in.
