Aint major however Windows Mobile 6.1 promise to improve the current Windows Mobile 6 operating system and elevate it to another level. From the various screen shots that was spotted at Pocketpt.net we can see that the highlights includes a SMS Chat view Mode, new Getting Started options, Pocket Internet Explorer Zoom, a Managed Programs option, new Task Manager interface, and Office One Note. Mobile Office is now updated to open Office 2007 files (.docx, .xlsx) too. grin.gif

have been lucky enough to use wm6.1 on my touch dual (via a custom rom) for a day now, and must say its a welcome improvement.

The Chat view is a very nice feature, quite well thought through.

and not to mention the increased responsitivity of the device, but not sure if this is a function of the new OS or because i had to clean install everything.

For the time being, a wow for me.

i've been using the WM 6.1 on my kaiser for some time.
can't say much on the origins of the rom, but it's from MS.

major diff is the 'Plam Threaded SMS' system.
'Running programs' have been removed from 'Memory' & given a new name as 'Task Manager'

TCPMP can't run, don't expect to be able to watch YouTube.
SPB dairy wun works.
SPB back-up will return with errors, had to use SPB clone instead.

no problem with sync-ing with my server data & mails.
no problem with sms back-up to my outlook.

heya lollypop,

TCPMP runs fine on mine. Don't think its a wm6.1 prob, rather a rom issue.
lollypop
i hope so, cos mine's e 'raw-bulid' w/o all those add-ons fron HTC.

How to download the WM6.1 rom?
thescum
heya discoburg, the only 2 ways available are:

1. official update from device manufacturers/resellers

2. custom roms- unfortunately not allowed to discuss here.

Does threaded SMS have any problems? I'm hoping to have it on my Samsung i780!
