Ho ho ho, now I can tell my friends the signal of my HP6282 is so strong that I can receive Japan's NTT DoCoMo network even though I am in Singapore. :p

1. Turn off your phone
2. Go to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/RIL/OperatorNames using any registry editor
3. Create a new string value using MNC/MCC of your operator as value name
4. Then under value data, type your desired operator name
5. Turn on your phone again to see the change
For a complete list of operators, you can check out

You have to have a registry editor to do so, a free and versatile one is the PHM registry editor which can be downloaded from
HERE.
To download just select Pocket PC 2003,2003 (ARM/PXA) and install via Activesync using the CAB file that you have downloaded, transfer the whole CAB file that you have downloaded to your device and launch to install to your main memory.

Hi bearock,
Launch your registry editor and navigate to Go to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/RIL/OperatorNames and Value name would be your line provider, 52503 for me as i am with M1, check above the value to add for your provider. Value date actually is any word you wanna type in, be it Apple Orange Corn or your own name, after you have type any word in it scroll down to bottom of the screen and tap on OK, go to Tools and Exit.
Power off your device for 20secs and power on, soft reset after that, you should see the change after you boot up.

Hi hanscts,
Just delete the Value data and tap OK, exit and it will revert back after you power off your device for 20secs and power on and soft reset, tried so and no worries about that.

Apparently you can do so for the HTC Home only, i cant do so for Spb Phone Suite which shows AT
T instead of AT&T.

i got into the part of the 'operator names' the bottom part is empty so i went to 'edit = new string value ', i entered 52503 for value name i am using M1 , 'data' i put 'Apple'
so i'm suppose to see Apple appear now instead of the old M1 GSM
then went to tools and exit and ensured that the registryedit program is completely closed by closing all programs
then did a soft reset, but the operator name didnt change..

You can try to create a new key however at your own risk, do back up your stuff before trying.
Highlight RIL and go to Edit, select New Key and name it OperatorNames. Then highlight the new String that you have created and go to Edit and select New String Value, Value name would be :
M1 - 52503
Starhub - 52505
Singtel - 52501 (GSM900) / 52502 (GSM1800)
Value data would be whatever name you wanna use and you should see something like this :

Then scroll to the bottom and tap on OK instead of using the ok button of your task manager, then go to Tools and Exit. Power off for 20 secs and power on, soft reset.

manage to get the operatorname in RIL(just below AP11nfo), when highlight OperatorNames, I see under Name:Default and the Value:(value not set), until here I can get New String Value for editing
lmf2501
Feb 6 2008, 03:27 PM
Value name you set as :
M1 - 52503
Starhub - 52505
Singtel - 52501 (GSM900) / 52502 (GSM1800)
Then Value data just use any word you desire. Afger so scroll to the bottom and tap on OK instead of using the ok button of your task manager, then go to Tools and Exit. Power off for 20 secs and power on, soft reset.

Had some fun with the operator name after cny eve dinner.... hehe. Anyway, this is how you do it using Resco Registry.
1. Disconnect from your telco network
2. Navigate to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/RIL/OperatorNames

3. Go to Menu->New->String Value

4. Enter your
mobile network code under
Name and your desired
operator name under
String

5. Reconnect to your network and go show off!
