As the earlier rumouors have suggested, Telefónica O2 is really exiting its Windows Mobile business in Asia. However, it is now known that O2 Asia has teamed up with Expansys to setup a new company named Mobile and Wireless Group (MWG), based in Singapore.

This is yet another branding change for a major player in the Windows Mobile market. All of O2 Asia's warranty and service obligations will be taken over by this new company. Interestingly, their website hinted that the next 3 Windows Mobile devices to be unveiled are called Xda Atom 4, Xda Flame 2 and Xda Zinc 2.

hmm... thanks for sharing the news vicott. kinda sad again for Windows Mobile I would say. lets hope MS can get their act right in the smartphone market, but so far, its been quite an uphill task for them and doesnt look very promising considering how well Symbian has been doing at all fronts, and now with all the buzz of iPhone and and Android from google.

Has anyone had experience of the service at MWg? Is it any better than O2 Asia? And the phones? Are they any better?

I went for a servicing for my atom life about 6 months ago regarding probs of auto shut down, camera hang etc.

It took me 3 days to get back my ppc, which I feel is a good improvement from the 2 weeks + I had to wait when it was under o2 asia.
