Full Version: Samsung i600 finally gets WM 6 upgrade

Better late than never. According to CNET Asia, Samsung has announced a Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for its popular i600 yesterday. i600 users in Singapore can scoot down to their service center at Plaza Singapura for a free software upgrade starting from 13 October. It's odd why Samsung doesn't make the upgrade available for download as it will save users and them a lot of hassle.

So i600 users, please make a beeline for the upgrade starting this Saturday! Maybe they will change their decision. w00t.gif

Please also give a review of how wm6 fares in the i600. i heard there is no cardwheel interface in wm6. is the signal strength as good, better or worst? is the interface more responsive, or worst? etc...

Unfortunately, Samsung doesn't supply us with review units. Hopefully CNET Asia writes a piece on this. Else, we'll need to depend on i600 owners in PPCSG to give us their take.

I just came back from Samsung Service Centre at Plaza Sing. Dropped it off there and they say i can go back tomorrow to collect it. They just need identification and warranty card.

if don't have warranty card already, how?

i just collected my i600 and boy, there was a loooooooong queue with lotsa i600 lying around. I am not sure if they will do the upgrade without the warranty. Maybe you can give them a call. I sent my in on Friday night so manage to collect it today.

I brought my card there but they did not even look at it..... Maybe because they saw i was holding it......

i600 is not 1 yr old yet, so all i600 are still in-warranty.

Yah they didn't ask for warranty card for mine.
Got mine collected today. first impression: No office mobile and no windows live messenger!

any other updates of wm6.
advising my colleague who is using it whether he should even upgrade or not.
he is not a techy guy but the thought of having wm6 in it is irresistable! grin.gif

Yes i noticed to that there is NO Office Mobile and NO Messenger included in the WM6 upgrade...so now how? Any idea what my options are. guys?

This half-baked upgrade situation is highly irritating.
Order Chicken Rice and it doesn't come with the Chicken!

And there doesn't seem to be ANYWHERE i can get download Office Mobile from. Grrr.
twosix
I think it is more like order $3 chicken rice but they give you $2 instead. Actually the original i600 wm5 also does not comes with the mobile office apps and live messenger, so not getting it in wm6 is not surprising.

Hmmm... so my qn still remains. What options do we have then? How can we get hold of Office Mobile and Messenger?
