Hi guys I have personally tried. It works smoothly with my atom life is hook on 3G network. StarHub Digital Cable Sports Group customers with StarHub Mobile get FREE MobileTV Xtra value-added service till 31 May 2008! Available on 3G/3.5G video streaming supported handsets. But need to call up starhub to configure the GEE menu. Have double check with them NO EXTRA DATA charges or GPRS charges at all.
more info here starhub
Trueworship
any idea can it be watched on HTC touch?
blackiez
too bad i don't have a 3G ppc phone
zenkinz
apparently it will only work on certain phones. I always get 'no permission to access the resource' error message and according to the tech support, it's because ACL is based on the device model. Till now, they have not resolve for my phone so no go for me yet.
deniero
Have personally tried watching on my Atom Life. Works perfectly fine and smooth. However if u do not have a power source with you all the time... forget it cos your battery will be drained out even before finishing a half of the match!!! tongue.gif
Trueworship
Oh ya forgot abt the batt part.... Sure gonna "kill your batt" unless u got extra batt around....(2hrs of soccer!!!)

But still its a pretty neat service to have on your phone.

But i think i cant watch it ... on my.... touch.... its too touchy....

dunt think so....touch is not a 3G phone..
zenkinz
are you still having a ok streaming these few days?

I tried with my C730 and to say it's jerky is an understatement (almost like watching a slide show of still picture), but I don't have any problem with other tv channels such as cnbc or cna.

lastly, did you have to use another browser? The default internet browser will only work for me only if I change the connetion to 'WAP network'..

this is strange then, I have no problems wh all the news channel (CNBC, CNN, CNA) but jsut not any of the football channel.

for the former, I do not have any blackout, although I do have intermitten video freezes.

what devices do you have, and what's your internet connection settings? I assume you are using standard internet explorer that comes with your device?

can you list out the setting?

interestingly, the gee! link is already in the favorite without me doing anything. The only thing I have to manually set is to change the connection from 'Internet' to 'WAP Network'.

Setting the URL to begin with WSP instead of HTTP will trigger the Windows Mobile browser to switch to GEE WAP network, rather than GEE Internet.

I am a MaxOnline subscriber but not a Starhub mobile user, so can I still watch this on my PPC?

I'm using a dopod C730.

like I said, if I can stream CNBC and CNA well, there shouldn't be any reason for the football channels not to work, unless a. they are overloaded channels compared to the news (likely) or b. they have different streaming techniques for the football channels.

a. seems unlikely given some of you are having no problem accessing. (unless I'm darn unlucky to aways get the last of the queue)

b. .. not so sure.

overall, I find the whole iview (Which i had some trouble until I managed to get it fix recently) and mobiletv-extra services more like a beta service than really a service in production. no wonder they are offered as FOC for now!
zenkinz
was at suntec city today, where starhub has a roadshow to showcase its mobiletv extra service. the video streaming on their demo mobile units were normal, so out of curiosity, I took out my phone and tried to open the same football channel that had never worked for me for the last 2 weeks. And true enough, the streaming was smooth and ok, just lke how CNA works in my phone previously.

certainly not a phone problem.

Can i know whats the setting for Gee wap (starhub) ?

I having a O2 Zinc but i could not find the MobileTv extra menu even after i activated it. Starhub Customer Rep told me my phone is not supported for video streaming.

??Any idea?

zenkinz
as usual, starhub always has this useless 'your phone is not supported' reply.

try using this link to access gee!

wsp://gee-select.starhubgee.com.sg/wap

then select sports to get into mobiletv extra service.

Same problem. I could not see the "mobiletv extra service" option on that menu.

In the afternoon, since my friend was also from starhub. I saved the address for mobiletv as bookmark from his phone and send it to my phone.
From the link, i was able to click the link for the Football Channel and CNA and was able to stream those videos without any problems.

But i wanted to try it now. It does not seems to works anymore :(

the link for CNA video streaming is :
rtsp://172.31.2.58/rtpencoder/3gpLive_CNA.sdp

I using O2 Zinc and face the same prob. Starhub send me a direct link to the MobileTV but I flashed my ROM (without noting down the link) and all is gone. Any have the direct link to the MobileTV page?

if you can access gee! but not the mobiletv extra, could it be you have not subscribed it as a service?

I am positive that I have subscribe to MobileTV (confirmed by starhub). I have even access it before when starhub sent me the direct link. But I lose the link when I update my ROM, so asking if anyone happens to know the link. Else I will just have to call starhub and ask again (which they will tell me they will call me back as the technician is all busy and I will have to wait for hours or sometimes days). :P

The reason they gave is that O2 Zinc is not an officially supported model, but he don't sound very confident when he said that.

I seriously doubt you have the proper access, otherwise it shouldn't be an error. When I first tried to access Gee! I can't even access pass the main menu despite the claim from Starhub support that I have been granted access. after a few escalation, then they finally found some setting to enable me to get into mobileTVxtra.

the link should open up the media/video streamer rather than the normal media player.
slacko
i have the same problem. I cannot access the menu with the mobiletv extra options. But i can play the video through the links.

does windows media mobile consider a media/video streamer program?

The strange thing is I do not have the video streamer software when I upgrade to WM6. This is the version given by O2 when I select 'Singapore' as my location. I know there is another version suppose to meant for Hong Kong/Malaysia that comes with this software. Should I switch? Or is there a way to download this video streaming software?
keltong
OK...found a way to around the problem of not able to see the streaming.

As mentioned, one of the O2 ROM have a video streaming software, but not the ROM so call 'recommended' for Singapore. So despite the link provided by our kind zenkinz for the direct link to MobileTVxtra (for those who after subscribing but still cannot see the link to it). You will still not be able to fire up the streaming as media player will not play streaming video.

I found this link http://thinkabdul.com/2007/06/29/download-...t-pcsmartphone/ which allow us to download the video streaming player and teach us how to install it (with added .dll files). I followed the instruction and managed to get the streaming working. Very smooth streaming but somehow get cut off half way, not sure is the network problem or the player problem. Will monitor.

I think it's 'free' because you are entitled for the free mobileTV extra package.

I stand corrected for assumption that $20 is limited for BPL sports streaming.

BTW,

can you post out the rstp link for all the channels? I can't get into the Gee menu! (due to the new phone and Starhub must configure something at their end...)
fkfs9
I can get into the Gee menu and click the following.

Gee -> Sports -> MobileTV Extra but there is no link for me to watch Football channel.

I used to have this link for me to start the video streaming but i cant seem to get in anymore. Anyone has this problem? Or can anybody confirm this video streaming is still going on at this instance?

it's still available.

I changed to the new Treo 500v, and couldn't access, thinking that there's some configuration required @ Starhub end, turns out, it's just a proxy configuration that's missing. Kudos to the excellent Starhub technical support, although I have to figure out where to set up the proxy since WM6 implements the config setting differently, at least for Treo/Smartphone.
rOLLi
can explain in detail how to make my Asus P750 work to watch Football Channel? thanks.
zenkinz
navigate to gee menu, select football channel, and see if you can access or not.

otherwise, you need a streaming software (HTC media streaming software if it coems with your phoen, if not get coreplayer) and 3G minimally.
rOLLi
:( sadly i not able to see the football channel link. But there's a streaming player that come with ASUS P750. I also tried the HTC streaming player but still cannot see the link. Now i wondering how come i cannot see the link in the Gee! menu even though i have subscribed starhub mobile tv. think even installing coreplayer will not help :(
zenkinz
see if you can access the stream directly from here

http://www.ppcsg.com/http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=9...ndpost&p=696156

it could be starhub problem (of not adding your phone as one of the supportable phone)

you are welcome.

the downside is that any new channels, must manually go and track.

but given Starhub's track record, which continues to stream the same few channels for the last 12 months, I think it's safe to say there's minimal impact :P
renrabbit
hey guys i'm new here. i've been following this thread and seems like not many have much luck in getting the mobileTV xtra to work. I called up starhub and finally managed to get it to work. to save everyone the trouble and pain, i shall just share here what are the changes to the settings i made. (BTW i'm using O2 atom life with WM6 and the bundled streaming player)

actually it all boils down to the proxy server. assuming your GPRS is already working, and your only problem is to get inside the Gee! menu and watch the videos, you only need to change your proxy settings.

go to start -> settings -> connections tab -> connections icon
select "set up my proxy server" under "Gee! Settings"
make sure the 2 boxes are checked
tab on the advanced button and key in the following settings:
HTTP - 10.12.1.2, port 8080
WAP - 10.12.1.2, port 9201
leave the username, password and domain fields empty
Secure WAP and Socks, just leave them empty

then try going into the Gee! menu at http://gee-select.starhubgee.com.sg/wap. You should be able to get inside w/o being directed to a page asking you to log in. from there just go to entertainment -> mobileTV xtra, den select what you want to watch.

do take note that this only works if u connect using GPRS. it does not work with WIFI. and also, after changing the proxy settings, you may encounter problems if u wish to surf the net using wifi. if u face this problem, u have 2 options. either u remove the proxy server under HTTP everytime u wanna use wifi then key it in again when u wanna view mobileTV xtra, or you can create another connection profile just for your wifi.

hope this helps you guys!
