Hope this thread is still active.

I noticed that if I use ZTA4 in portrait mode, then the English layout for puctuation marks screen look completely different from that of the landscape mode, and there is no full stop mark for the portrait mode! Do you guys have this problem?

Like many of you, I notice that on many website, the Chinese characters appear garbed in PIE, whereas they were okay with ce-star. No problem with words, excel, and most chinese websites.

I also notice that in music players, the chinese characters don't display correctly too. This happens even with ce-star. I wonder if it is because of the ROM version used. Must I choose one of the chinese region code for this to work? Also, must the encoding inPIE be set in a certain way. I'm using a ROM that does not have the asian related encoding.

Hi all,

Was trying to look for the Dopod 838Pro for ZTA4 Qwerty version to download on the website but couldn't find it. For some reason the link was grayed out.

Does anyone know why or if there is an alternative version that works?

I know the QVGA & VGA version can be used and has been tested. But are there any that works withe Qwerty? else kinda defeats the purpose right?

TIA

Do not unzip the .cab file. Just copy the file to your device and run it from there.

ok done. wad i did was to install the older version of CE Star which i used for my dopod on ks20. its for wm5. the latest ce start cant even install. i expected it to hang my device but unexpectedly everything went smoothly. no need to register cos the limitation for usage is mainly for the input. so i just use ZTA to input and my chinese internet pages can load smoothly.. the version of CE start i using is

Hi there,I am using CE-Star at the moment, but wud like to try the

Hi everyone,

I've been reading through the whole ZTA4 thread and sorry i'm quite confused about the ZTA4 and the sunglobe.cab files. I'm rather new to PDA phones as i just bought myself a P750.

from my understanding, the sunglobe.cab is only for input of chinese words whereas for chinese fonts recognition, like for chinese songs or filename, we have to use another viewer. Please correct if i'm in the wrong track ok?

So can someone tell me where to download the viewer for chinese recognition?

Thanks for any advice!
John Teoh
The sunglobe.cab is for the WM6 devices to display chinese regardless of files or website. ZTA4 is a chinese input software. HTH.

You can read traditional chinese with the sunglobe font too. If you still can't read, google for the MingLiu font.

Dear all,

I'm a newbie to this site and O2 Atom Life PDA phone. I bought the Atom Life with WM6 OS of which I need to read and write Chinese quite often.

Going through the pages, I've seen many fellow friends here able to install ZTA4 to write Chinese with success. Think I'm really dumb and I really need help as I can never get it installed onto my PDA phone.

I followed the steps given by downloading a WinRAR file named “A4_PPC_SIP_QVGA_v2.0.45” from http://www.a4user.com/A4_down_sip.as, expanded the file into a folder which contains “A4智能输入法PPC触摸屏版(QVGA)_v2.0.45”, inside this folder contains

A folder - A4皮肤资源(QVGA版)
A text file - A4 使用说明
A text file - ZT-A4 软件许可协议
A WinZip file - ZTA4_QVGA_SIP_v2.0.45

Then I tried to copy and transfer the WinZip file “ZTA4_QVGA_SIP_v2.0.45” into my PDA phone but nothing happens following which. I don’t get to see the ZTA4 SIP selection as well. Is there anything thing that I’ve not done or done wrong?

I’m really puzzle, been trying to install for the past 2 weeks with success. If anyone could just drop me a note to guide me steps by steps. This can also help other newbie who face similar trouble like me.

Many thanks in advance to all!
aCiDz
nullless, you're correct to copy the WinZip file - ZTA4_QVGA_SIP_v2.0.45 into your phone. Then open up File Explorer, browse to the folder where that file is, and tap on that file to start the installation process.
nullless
Hi aCiDz,

Thanks for replying!

I realised I can't even copy & paste the WinZip file - ZTA4_QVGA_SIP_v2.0.45 into my phone...

In my desktop with my Atom Life connected, I copied the WinZip file then I access from "My Computer", locating "Mobile Device" which is my Atom Life PDA and in this space I tried to copy & paste but nothing happens?? Even after I sync, the WinZip file did not show up in my Atom Life.

Is there somethign to do with compatability?
aCiDz
With your phone connected, open Microsoft ActiveSync. Click on the 'Explore' button. Then copy the file from your pc and paste into this new window (the window title should reflect 'Mobile Device').

Else, you can always do a file transfer using bluetooth.
nullless
Hi aCiDz,

I've done it!

Bluetooth doesn't work, Active Sync using Explorer failed as well. No choice I took out the mini-SD card and inserted into my notebook. I could see ZTA4_QVGA_SIP_v2.0.45 but the file size is only 1kb.

So I deleted it and copy direct from harddrive into the mini-SD card. Thereafter I plug it back to my Atom Life, I can finally "see" ZTA4_QVGA_SIP_v2.0.45 with a file size of 1.49M.

Then I proceed with the usual installation and now I'm able to read & write Chinese.

Very appreciative to your help and guidiance!

Thanks!

Hi,

I hope this question has not been answered anywhere else in the forum cos I have looked through this thread and I still can't find the solution. If it has, sorry for asking again.

Basically, my issue is the same as what skw1020 above, I can read Chinese text in sms and Words doc, but I can't read Chinese on website like Yahoo!Taiwan (even after I have loaded Mingliu.ttf into my mobile window\ directory).

I have tried other alternatives suggested in the thread, such as installing CE-star or Monster Chinese, I can then read Chinese on the website but they comes with another even bigger problem - conflicts with my LG KS20 and they hang the system like 10 times a day. I have no choice but to uninstall them.

So, hope one of you guys expert here can provided some guidance on any other possible solution. your help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Dear nakokpeng,

This problem has happened before and has been answered before as well. Hehe... but not in this particular thread. I personally encountered this problem. Let me share with you how I solved it and what I've discovered about it.

First of all, when you first get your ppc (without any other software), you can try using pocket IE to navigate to chinese website. When you do that, you realize Pocket IE can't encode chinese characters on the page. If you know where to go (something like menu option), you can also see the encoding available. And true enough, there isn't any chinese encoding by default.

Then after you install something like Monster Chinese or CE Star, you can try doing the same thing. Not surprisingly, you can read those chinese website now. If you check under menu, option, you will realize that Chinese encoding is there now.

To make the long story short, when you uninstall Monster Chinese or CE star, the Chinese encoding in your pocket IE vanishes along with it. ZTA4 Chinese SIP is a software for Chinese entry. Unfortunately, it doesn't include Chinese encoding for pocket IE. As a result, even if you've installed ZTA4, you still can't read chinese with pocket IE. To deal with the problem, I installed the Chinese version of Opera Mini. After that, I can read Chinese using Opera mini. Still, I can't read Chinese using pocket IE. I also tried installing Webby (another web browser). Surprisingly, I can read Chinese using that browser.

So... the easy way out? Install the Chinese version of Opera Mini.

Hi fellow ppc users,

May I know how to tell between a VGA and a QVGA screen? I'm holding an Asus P735.

Many thanks in advance.
sillyham
Limark,

VGA display is 640 pixels x 480 pixels.
The "Q" in QVGA means Quarter. That mean it only has a quarter of the resolution of a VGA screen. So... it means 320 x 240.

Asus P735 is a QVGA screen. It should be written on the box somewhere.

Thanks Sillyham.

I am using a HTC Touch. I noticed that after I have installed this software, my default input will become ZTA4 everytime i soft reset my phone. Is there anything i can do to disable this autorun input changing? BTW, thanks for the software, it is a good one to use, except that it do not have the function of handwriting recognition.

sitoca, to me, there are 3 main differences between CE Star and ZTA4.

1. The most important one has been mentioned by zenkinz:

QUOTE(zenkinz @ Jun 22 2008, 11:13 PM)
one major different. CE Star has too much of overhead to cause performance issue to your gadget.
*

This is free, and CE Star has to be bought. Unless you get it free when you bought your WM device, if not, you will have to pay to get one.

2. ZTA4 is very very finger friendly. It can work just like a normal Nokia or Sony Ericsson Handphone Chinese text entry whereby you are actually using number pads (but in our case, the on-screen soft numberpad). As a result, the keys on the soft number pad is big enough for you to use your finger to enter chinese text. Whereas in CE Star, you are dealing with tiny little keys on the soft qwerty keyboard. Unless you like to use the handwriting method to enter text, it's almost impossible to use your fingers on the tiny soft qwerty keyboard to enter Chinese text. There is not handwritten text entry for ZTA4.

3. Text encoding for CE Star extend into other application such as Pocket IE. That means you can visit Chinese websites with Pocket IE and all the Chinese texts will be encoded correctly. Whereas ZTA4 doesn't have any encoding. In fact, for ZTA4 to work, you will need to install a separate Chinese font so that Chinese text will appear properly. Visiting Chinese website with ZTA4 installed only (without CE Star) means that you won't be able to read the Chinese text on those webpages.

If you are interested in point 3, I've shared my experience on this a couple of pages ago. Do look back.

Hi, I had install the ZTA4_QVGA for Omnia but could find a way to use as hand written input.

Does it support hand input or do I need others software to go with it in order to make it work ?

Thanks
