I'm not really sure what you guys are using for the Chinese input. I've never liked CE-Star much as I preferred a single-handed input without the stylus (think HTC PhonePad).

I've been a fan of this ZTA4 for quite some time. It works well on my 818PRO, 838PRO/WM5-6 and D810/WM5-6. The only additional thing needed is the sunglobe.ttf for it to display Chinese characters as usual. ASUS P525 users might wanna take a look at this as well.

If anyone needs the sunglobe.CAB for the easy installation(removal) of the sunglobe.ttf (no registry tweaking needed), download from my site HERE (alternate download link).

I have installed the ZTA4 SIP on my Touch.. works like a charm. Great thanks to starch for bringing it to us. The sunglobe.cab is really fantastic, eliminate all the registry editing and allow for uninstall... Gr8

I was using the d.ear SIP with sunglobe.ttf before this but I found this combination is better and nicer!! Installed CE-Star 2.8R3 but didn't like it and unistalled...

can i use sunglobe with my default keyboard or i must install ZTA4 keyboard??
prefer to use one keyboard for everything

i install sunglobe on storage card and ZTA4 on memory...but i dont see any new keyboard neither can my phone display chinese....did i miss out any steps?

jlpk007.. ZTA4 keyboard is for writing chinese characters and sunglobe.ttf allow you to read chinese in sms, music player and internet. If you dont need to write in chinese, you need not install the ZTA4 chinese keyboard..

jipk007... The sunglobe.cab and keyboard s/w must be installed on the phone memory for it to work. Will take up about 3.2Mb of memory though. Sorry for the late reply...

Did any one compare the memory used between this and Ce-Star?
If ZTA4 take up less phone memory, will discard Ce-Star and use this one.

cause i feel that cestar really slows down my touch..so i removed it away...
i tried to install the sunglobe font on to my touch phone memory...and did a soft reset...but i still cant view chinese for my song title in audio manager...

i notice i can see the chinese in explorer view but not in audio player...strange...

jlpk007...Strange, I have no problem seeing chinese in the audio manager.. The song titles are in chinese? Could it be korean or japanese?

I have installed both ZTA4 and CE-Star 2.8 R3 before. Different in memory usage is only the SIP used. ZTA4 uses slightly lesser memory of about 0.5~0.6Mb over CE-Star but ZTA4 does not have handwriting input.. only pinyin. very little difference betn the two. This is because both uses same sunglobe fonts. I hope this help.

Strange....only some songs i can see the chinese words in audio manager and some still showing garbage...
while using cestar i can see all...but don't like cestar...

like "Block Recognizer" "Letter Recognizer" "Symbol Pad" etc.
cos I supect too many SIP cause a delay when trying to bring
up the SIP selection menu?

Hi cybertech... the Block recogniser, letter recogniser and symbol pad are parts of the default keyboard and cant be uninstalled unless you cooked your own ROM...

As for the delay of the SIP selection menu, i notice that when I point at the apex of the menu triangle, there is no delay of the selection pop-up... You may want to try and confirm or is it just me...

Sorry guys, I didn't know that my thread would have a following.

Anyway, I've other font packs in CAB that displays Korean, Thai, etc apart from Chinese. But they come rather huge. Around 9 - 10mb. A show of hands/posts on whether anyone needs them. No reg tweaking needed as usual.

It would be great if anyone having problems/quirks with the SIP post their devices, roms, os, installed apps (especially SIPs), etc for easier user2user support.

For removing sip, I do not know. But for deactivating them, you can use sktools.

Can you confirm that ZTA4 support pining?

I tried to edit the registry to make block recognizer the default but to no avail...

any solutions?

Have you already read into this thread? I find zenkinz's post on this SIP changer utility extremely useful rather than tweaking the registry.

Do you mean pinying? I try pinyin input no problem.
BUT bad news, I discover that the fontpack display chinese/japanese
correctly in Word, Excel, Music player, folders etc and not in PIE.
Internet Explorer to Taiwan, China and Japanese yahoo do not
display the characters correctly. Switch back to CE-Star and all
chinese simplified, traditional and japanese characters are back ok.

So we just need to install both sunglobe.cab and A4 input method to view/write chs? does it support both SIM/TRAD chs? or just one of them. I ask so becoz some of my mp3 files are in TRAD and somes in SIM.

does it have T9 for English? if so it will be the perfect SIP!

Hi tcs... sunglobe.tff will allow you to view both in simplified & traditional chs. However ZTA4 can only input simplified chinese. Hope that'll help.

Thanks to the TS. I've got it installed in my Atom Life WM6. Works wonders. If there is an option for handwriting, it will be perfect, but I think I still can live with it.

are you referring to the ZTA Chinese SIP? You can refer to my link above and download from the QVGA version HERE, unrar the file you have downloaded and transfer teh CAB file located in it to your device, execute from the location you've transfered to and select to install to your device.

Also you would need the sunglobe font CAB from HERE, once again transfer via Activesync and execute, select to install to your device.

After doing so soft reset your device and you should be able to do the dos and have chinese SIP entry and view chinese in your device.

you can actually go through a safer channel and install the chinese fontpatch from Trendsmobile HERE, download and transfer the CAB file to your device via Activesync and choose to install in your main memory, soft reset and enjoy!

Oh, I downloaded the VGA version 2.017.

Now I have downloaded the fontpatch.cab and able to read Chines, so now which one to I need to download to write Chinese, Thanks a million.
