Hello ALL,

You can view your MP3 music in WMP and SMS messages in Chinese without editing the registry! and without CE-Star too!

Here are the following steps:

Go to Start>Settings>tap on System folder>select Regional Settings> select Chinese (Singapore) in the box>tap on OK

You are done.

Go and launch WMP and you should be able to see Chinese (simplified) in you song title...[that is if you have chinese songs in the playlist...]

If you have chinese SMS... you should be able to view it too.

The above work on Simplified Chinese... does not support Traditional Chinese (Taiwan)... so take note.

For Mapking... you can go to Mapking option and select English interface if you want Mapking to appear in English.

I only tried on mine D810 but I think should work on other model so long as it is upgraded to WM6.0

Another thing... I have not encounter the 'bracket' issue anymore in the receiving phone numbers for incoming calls or SMS ... maybe WM6 has resolved this issue [I hope...]

DO FEEDBACK ON YOUR FINDINGS....

Unfortunately, by default Chinese Singapore is not pre-install so there is a need to port some files over.

Is it?

Try installing CE-Star.... then go to Regional Setting and change it to Chinese (Singapore).

Run CE-Star once...

Then uninstall CE-Star.... I think the REgional Setting for Chinese (Singapore) should still be there.

But if you have CE Star installed, you do not even need to change the Regional Setting to chinese in order to view chinese characters in WMP or SMS. My Regional Setting is always set to English.

ya..i don't even see chinese(singapore) in the option

I installed CE-Star in my Tytn II and my regional setting is changed to Chinese (Singapore) and I do not have a option ofr just English but English (United Kingdom) and English (United States). Currently all is working great for me except that my Mapking and Skype (have not found any others yet) are showing Chinese text and I can't get them back to English. I basically only need to read/write Chinese for SMS. Any advice? confused.gif

My Regional setting is English (Australia), and I have no problem to view/write Chinese in SMS, except that I can't see chinese in WMP.

It could be that your media file is not having the "proper" tags/names. Try modifying the tags using the built-in chinese input in WinXP before you transfer the file over to check again. I do not have problems with chinese ID3 tags in my media files.

Probably. But there are so many of them, and I'm kinda lazy. I'm just using Pocket Music now and has it display the filename instead.

Thanks smile.gif
