We all know how lucrative the China market can be, now Dopod is advancing towards it too by planning to release six new phones in the second half of 2007, according to company sources. We can expect the Athena-c (mobile office device) aka Dopod U1000, Cruiser aka HTC P800W, Kunlun, Nike-c, Elf aka HTC Touch and Sedna-c, with the Kunlun and Sedna-c sounding quite foreign to us. "-c" suffix to indicate it is for the Chinese market? My guess is that these models will be loaded with Chinese OS and Chinese input methods. I saw a very young Chinese mm using a China made PDA phone on a bus. I chatted her up and got to play with her phone for a good part of the journey. The Chinese made phones are really quite impressive and shines in the MP3 + MP4 arena. What tops it off for me is the price! RMB 1300+! That's S$250+!!!! No contract and creepy conditions attached. Made me drool except my Chinese is really cock up. If only I knew what China has to offer, I would not have got a C5 for my CL2. I would have studied very hard. Plus the mm was very chio too!

It's also likely that these models will come without WiFi as per "normal".
