Need some help please!
My joy of purchasing a new Dopod D810 has caused me plenty of grief over the last 2 days. I can't seem to connect to my wireless network at home although my PC and laptop is working fine.
Tried the following after much research but to no success -
-Disabling WEP for home router (2WIRE Home portal router)
-Assigning Fixed IP for D810
-Toyed with connection settings for 'Internet' and 'Work'
-Soft and hard resets
I'm able to detect my WLAN on my phone but after attempting to connect, the status turns to 'Unavailable' or 'Available'. It can't seem to hook up to the network. Tried using a Nokia N80 and it works just fine.
Not sure what i'm doing wrong or if i missed out a step. Can any kind soul please help me by providing a step-by-step guide on what i need to do?
I can't get much help from my router & HTC website and dopodasia website seems to be de-registered. Help!

Hmmm if the d810 is actually able the detect the network it might be working fine. I am not too sure bout the 2wire settings coz i don't use that. But check first that your wireless settings are set to b/g mode.. to enable easier connection. double check again since u have disabled your wep, that mode is under open. check your mac address filtering/mac restriction you would be able to find your mac address of your d810 under the wireless settings section, if its necessary, input into your 2wire under its wireless settings for the mac filtering(you would have to search around the menu coz i don't know wat its called under the 2wire interface)

Hi Kopipeng. Thanks for the response.
My network is on b/g and the mode is open. Can't seem to locate any MAC filtering section for my router so could not specify my D810's MAC address.
Do i need to tinker with the Network Adapters or Connections settings?

My sentiments, exactly. I've got myself a rw6828a week ago and i'm experiencing the same problems and frustrations like you. The wi fi is sometimes unavailable or available or connecting forever and nothing happens! Up to now, i am still unable to connect...I'm getting baffled, frustrated and pulling my hair over this. Somebody help us please...

Wifi on a ppc device is sometimes temperamental. I have a 838 pro and am also facing connection issues. From my trials I found that the best chance of a good connection is based on these factors:
1) Need a strong signal. The receiver in the pocket pc or phone seems not as sensitive as those on the pc or notebook, probably a small antenna due to the small size of the pocket pc. Those phone/pocketpc combo devices seems worse in this respect
2) In your ppc device, using the best performance setting seems to get better results, especially if you are trying hard to connect.
3) Use WEP over WPA type of encryption in your router, unless you have a reason for the higher security of WPA. WEP authenticates faster. WPA is slower.
4) If your router has a B/G mixed mode or G only settings. Set to mixed mode (B and G)
5) Don't hide your SSID and use Open authentication.
6) Check if your router has a firmware upgrade released. I have some problem with intermittent connection with a dell notebook on my dlink wifi until I upgraded the wifi firmware to the latest version.
My 838pro even after establishing connection, after surfing for a while tend to drop the connection or so I think because I can't go to a new website anymore. The wifi icon still shows that there is a connection so I don't understand what is going on. I need to turn off and on the wifi again for it to continue working. Strangely when I use msn or skype (even with voice) over the wifi it is okay.... is it the pocket ie problem? I don't know maybe someone can shed a light on this... meanwhile I am just living with it.

Hi guys,
I have the same issue before, dopodand the rounter company all cant help at all, until i nearly give out then finally i find out a way, hope that can help u..
dopod D810 - goto "start","setting","connection",wireless lan","power mode", change the "power save mode" from default "best battery" to the left which is "best performance". by do this i can surf with my home wireless, but by doing tht there is a draw back, that is the battery drain very fast which is make sense since I set the wireless Lan to more power, so drain the battery faster....

Hi. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Tried them but still didn't work.
Strangely, i managed to connect to wireless@sg at a public spot! It just won't work at home...
What does that mean?

I had a similar problem with my dopod 900. I can connect at wireless@sg, but not at home. I finally solved it. make sure u r not using a proxy! goto connections, and remove any proxies (mine was using proxy.starhub.com.sg). for some strange reason, my pocket IE will use the proxy configured in my gprs settings, even when I am using wifi.

Hi guys,
I have managed to sort of solve my connection by selecting work for both of my connections and clearing all proxy settings. now it doesn't hang anymore. don't quite understand what is happening though
