Wireless@SG is the government's initiative to extend wireless Internet to public places in Singapore. If you don’t already know, starting 1 Dec, you can register for a free account from iCELL Network, QMax Communications, and SingTel. The 3-year free access stretches till December 2009. Another good news is that this offer is not limited to residents but also visitors in Singapore. So if you are planning to visit the Republic, it's a good idea to sign up for an account. Information on the coverage areas are available from IDA’s website.

Anyone tried?
Wonder how strong is the signal. Was at Funan, HP shop just now, doing window shopping.
Went into HP to look at 6828. Ask the guy if I can try out the WIFI. He told me the signal in Funan is too weak for any PDA or even laptop to detect. If that's really the case, then its as good as nothing. :(

I have also registed.. but I don't understand about the setting part.

Do we need to do any setting on the wireless card? Or this just works just like the way the FREE wireless that MACdonald offer?

Thank you.

It works the same as MacDonald's free wifi. Just connect to the network with 'Wireless@SG' SSID, then browse to any site with your browser. You should see a login page. Login from there and you're good to go.

Hi, I'm aware that there are 3 operators with whom we could choose to sign up - e.g. iCell has been specified to cover East. Does this mean that if I stay in the East or tend to hang around this area, I should sign up for an iCell account?

Thanks!

Nope. One account is able to access all three.

Thanks John!

I would like to check with you all out there. Though they state that they have started the Wireless@SG. But they did mention that only selected hot spot are able to access/login the wireless. But they did not mention about the islandwide. So not every single cover of singapore can login into it. Correct me if I am wrong. Thankz.. confused.gif

the customer service is interlinked as well... so you call your service operator even if you're in another operator's zone.

Hi,
anybody try logging in @ Taka library?
I manage to get the log in page, but dont know
which Service Provider to select as I register with Qmax
and all the option r singtel.
Thanks

You just register again to the other providers then immy they'll sms to you your password then you can use...

Problem with this, I tried using with my PPC while walking along City Link Mall, when going inside City Link from City Hall MRT you'll get Singtel as provider..but while walking about half of City Link it changes to I-Cell..no problems though you'll just get disc then you'll have to re-connect via I-Cell...they should have only 1 provider per area of coverage...

So basically need to keep change logon instead of one logon for all.
