Full Version: Install Net 2.0 to your SD card

Not sure if this has been posted before but here goes.

For those of you who are reluctant to install the Net 2.0 Framework (like me) because it takes just so much space on your Device Memory (over 5MB), here is the solution.

Microsoft has released Net 2.0 SP1 which allows for installation to the SD Card. This means users like me can happily install it to our devices and get to enjoy those programs that uses this technology, something we could not do before.

Note: If the programs that you want to run is residing on your Device Memory (because its a Today Plugin or PIM or something that needs to be installed on the Device Memory), it would be best to install Net 2.0 to the Device Memory as well. However, such programs are few and far in between and most of the programs I know can be installed in the SD Card.

Before I forget, here is the link to download the file:

Enjoy!!!

Vapor, if i'm not mistaken, though we can now install .netcf2 on the sd card, you'll still require about 500kb of space on the device rom itself right>

Actually, not all of .Net CF 2.0 SP1 is installed to the Storage Card even when chosen to do so. Only about 1.4MB of it will go to the Storage Card and the bulk still goes to the main memory.

MSI is a Microsoft installer file meant for Windows PC. So, you'll have to install it from the PC with the device connected via ActiveSync.

i installed it on my memory card but the folder was empty. don't know why.

no they are not empty, the files are in .dll and hidden, use resco explorer and show all file in option menu, then u will see the files.

The default file explorer also allows viewing of hidden files. All you have to do is to scroll all the way to the bottom of the file explorer, then tap & hold on an empty space, and select "Show All Files".
