I doubt you can watch youtube videos on the PPC currently. Reason being youtube requires the latest flash player in order to stream its contents, i.e. Adobe Flash Player 9.0 (formerly Macromedia Flash Player). The latest flash player available for the PPC is only version 7 and it is, of course, not forward compatible.

Flash Player ver 7 was launched during the times when Macromedia came out with its MX suite which was 3 years ago. Most of the popular web sites today are already using Flash 8 or 9. Therefore, you might have problem viewing the flash menus even with that flash player installed on your PPC.

By the way, anyone know any flash-enabled web sites that can be viewed properly using the flash player for PPC?

I tried using Opera and of course IE, youtube won't work. I already installed the flash player from Adobe.com for the WM2003 and I guess it's not compatible, the message says that either javascript or no flash player has been installed. In Opera, I made sure that the javascript is checked.

So, I guess, we just can't play it on PDA. I use 818Pro btw

My Dopod 900 cannot play also.

Yes, it does work!!! w00t.gif

I managed to do it using OPERA v8.6 with youtube video, My PC Is On Fire, and the method described above.

You've to be patient for there's a queue, the conversion process and the saving duration.

I then play it with TCPMP

Interesting workarounds. Can you play the avi files on WMP instead?

I'm not sure if this is a workaround or a solution to playing youtube videos.

Basically, the conversion of FLV to another format is similar to the concept of that converting DVDs/RMVB to a format play-able on PPC's player. I do hope Adobe would release a flash player that handles FLV files without any issues.

Similar to that of RMVB/RM files, there isn't any players that can play the format directly without any conversion done.

Guys, I'm storing quite a fair bit of vids from youtube in my Exec.

Basically, just a few simple steps...

1) using youtubex, save the youtube file with flv. extension..
2) google for a prog called cinemaforge (i think..). D/l and exe the file on your desktop. 3) convert the flv file to any form of media (wmv,rm,rmvb, avi) with the prog.
4) once the file's been converted, use pocket dvd wizard to change it to PPC format (take note of the framrate)
5) after the file's been done, AS the file to your ppc.

Seems rather lengthy but its actually pretty simple and straight forward grin.gif

I have also use the above thread method.
Download the flv and convert using cinemaforge.
I have converted 2 sample from YouTube to ppc format.
