I'm just gotten my Dopod 818 Pro a few days back.

Trying out the wifi on the first day using my home 2WIRE modem, during then it was ok. But after that, I cannot connect using Wifi anymore.

Everytime, after I turn on Wifi, the 'Configure Wireless Networks' states that is it connecting, and forever it is connecting. When I open IE and start surfing, it asks if I want to log in using GPRS. I've attached a diagram below to show what the screen shows.

On the screen, Tthere's a small lock above the shortest green bar, don't know what that means. Under signal strength, it seems to be quite ok. The only 2 software I've installed is CE-Star and Vbar.

I'm using Singnet Broadband. Appreciate any help on this. Thank you grin.gif

Anyone can advise if this is normal.

Much appreciated.

Hi sci80899,

The little yellow lock means encryption key is enabled on your WAP (wireless access point, which you named as "2WIRE213"). You can temporary disable it on both your WAP and PDA and see if it works. Once it is working again, you can re-secure it by enabling the encryption key, but make sure the same key is used on both the WAP and and PDA (the key must be hexadecimal digits).

Hi Nobody

Thanks for your help. After I disabled the encryption on both my WAP and PDA, now the wifi is working. smile.gif

But once I try to enable the encryption again, it is disconnected and after that, cannot connect back anymore. cry.gif

Any way to go round this

Hi sci80899,

Once you enable the encryption on your WAP, you need to enable it on your PDA also, with the same protocol, length and key you set on the WAP.

Check out my post in this thread for some links on how to setup the Wifi:

Sounds like you didn't setup your WAP and/or PDA properly.

Try these:
-Use Open Authentication on PDA if your WAP does not support WPA.
-Make sure both are using the 128-bit WEP for data encryption.
-Check network key and key index are the same on both devices.

Ok, thanks nobody and Ionised for your help.
It's finally working. grin.gif
