Hi desmondsim,
Since you had verified your device wifi status
Ok at another place, what about getting Linksys support to assist you.

Hi desmondsim,

You can take a look at this site:

http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums/hardw...p-wifi-wm5.html

and this one:

http://wifi.aximsite.com/wifi_net.html

The second one is for Axim but the principle is the same.

The key point is, you need to disable the security/encryption when setting up. You can then turn them back on once you can connect. Since you can connect at office, I would suspect it is the encryption key that is giving you problem (they must be the same in order to communicate).

Make sure your AP is set @ Mixed mode.
Cause HP6828 uses B mode only.

Thks for all your help but I am still fcing problem. Does anyone here knows the customer care number for linksys?

As mentioned, most connection problems are either due to wrong communication protocol (e.g. 802.11g & 802.11b) or wrong encryption mode/key. First you have to make sure your WAP is set to mixed mode or 802.11b as animal suggested, because your 6828 supports 802.11b only. After that, disable encryption at the security setting screen, and do the same on your PDA. Try connecting again. You should be able to connect now. If not, check the above steps again. Once you're able to connect, enable the encryption again on both your WAP and PDA, use WPA key with 64 bit encryption (10 hexidecimal digits, meaning 0-9, A-F only). Remember this *must * be the same on both your WAP and PDA (and PC too)!

For Linksys' number, check out their website:

hi, i have the same prob.. but i'm using dopod 818pro
i can't access the wi-fi in my house and also other public hotspot which i have an account.. i'm using d-link di-624+ wireless router.. in the admin page i can't find where i can set it to be a mixed mode.. but dopod is b/g, right?

Hi OinkOink,

You didn't mention which revision of di-624 you have (there are rev B, C, D, model M, S), so I'll just assume you're using the latest one. I've looked at the pdf, it can be set on your router under "Performance->Advanced->802.11g Only Mode->Disabled".

Yup 818pro can support both b & g.

erm.. i'm using the B2 version.. mine originally is set to "mixed mode"..

i've followed all the instructions given..
* configure both my wireless router and dopod with Open authentication and disable WEP.
* remove existing wireless connection on my dopod.

my dopod automatically detects my wifi network as soon as i deleted the previous one.. but it says Available > Connecting > Unavailable..

by the way.. even though i configured it to "connects to: The Internet or Work".. still the same..

Hi OinkOink,

I notice from your screenshot that Speed Enhance Mode is enabled. Your PDA is not compatible with this mode (8x mode and Fram Bursting). Try disabling this and try again.

ohh.. okie.. thanks!
i'll try that after work.. thanks again!
anyway, if i wanted to connect to public hotspot? should be able to connect, right?

Yes, you can try it out at Mac. It is easy to connect, and also a great way to test out your PDA's wifi if you're having problem at home. :)

erm, nevermind.. finally can connect to my home wi-fi already..

i had to select MAC filters and cloned my dopod's mac address to allow it to access the network..

but i'm not sure if i can still connect to public hotspot or not..

anyway, thanks for all the assistances offered!

I thought you had already checked the mac filter because 1ucio had mentioned it above. Anyway, you can disable mac filtering. Glad that you've gotten it working.
