Thought I post this to save some new 838 Pro users the frustration I faced when I tried to connect the 838 Pro with my PC. The Activesync 4.1 that came in the CD was not able to detect the 838 pro despite numerous uninstallation and reinstallation. The problem was solved when I downloaded Activesync 4.2 from MS website. Apparently, if you have a firewall in your pc, Activesync 4.1 may not work unless you remove the firewall.

You have to install the Activesync first before connecting the device.

Actually, you don't really have to remove firewall. You just need to know how to configure it correctly. Please refer to this thread for more info.

now that u have successfully used 4.2, guess u can forget about trying out the 4.1 already...
