It is pretty similar to Gilbert Goodmate in graphics and play, but is much better in terms of graphic resolution, voice dialogue, gameplay etc.
After having played other adventure games of the Tetragame Atlantis Redux series - Egyptian Prophecy and Return to the Mysterious Island, I must say Broken Sword scores big in terms of its more user friendly gameplay. It also has a good intriguing storyline, great dialogues with real voices. The story has a sense of humor. The Atlantis Redux genre then to be dead serious, mystical and spiritual.
Broken Sword is also easier to play and solve, it does not require great ingenuity or a high IQ, just plain common sense will do. The Atlantis Redux genre puzzles are pretty complex at times, hard to solve unless one spends much time and try every possible combinations and ways. One can get stuck easily and give up. Most people do not have that sort of time to spare so Broken Sword scores big here.
In terms of cinematographic animation, the Atlantis Redux genre have more dazzling graphics sequences in between episodes. Broken Sword is just normal cartoon animations.
For game control Broken Sword scores better as the stylus control is enough to move around, talk and select options. The Atlantis Redux genre needs a combination of hard button. D-pad and stylus control which at times can be a pain.
This game is also pretty big in memory storage requirement at more than 110 MB but smaller than Atlantis Redux which requires 180 MB.
Broken Sword is about an American tourist called George Stobbart in Paris sitting outside a cafe, a clown came by, an explosion occurred inside, someone was killed and a local police detective and assistant came to investigate followed by a female charming journalist Nico Collard from a French newspaper. Soon George together with the journalist was off on a trail to more secrets and intrigues....See
