I would believe if the device has the latest WM5.0, it should have the push mail with messaging security capability. AKU (at least AKU 2.0 I think now there's AKU 2.3), short for adapter kit update, contains more than just push mail capability. While AKU is not synonmous to push mail, it does provide some indication if your mobile OS has the push mail capability (think of XP Service Pack that provides new set of capabilities on top of patching the existing bugs). If MS has started to provide pushmail capability in AKU 2.0 onward, as long as your OS has the build number = XXXXX.2.Y.Y or above (2.Y.Y denotes the AKU version), I would believe your device supports push mail. E.g. 6965 build number is 14957.2.3.1, so push-mail is available.

http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archiv.../28/586453.aspxTo make things alittle more confusing, MS started push mail even in WM2003SE onward. Back then, the mechanism to trigger pushmail is SMS based. But it's argued that it's never in the same league as blackberry, since the ability to push is as good (or as bad) as the SMS network traffic (which also do not guarantee SMS message delivery). Thus the new implementation of push mail by Microsoft adopt GPRS as one of the key design enabler. But the concept is still the same; server push a trigger to client so that the client knows that it need to pull from the server.
