hmmm... trying to get it work on the WM5 but it seems that the fonts are missing... nevertheless, it's still agreat tool as i don't hv to poke poke with my stylus as i can sms with one hand already......

you need your own chinese fonts. this is only a keyboard.
but it rocks man. best chinese input i've used. =)

can't get it to work. had installed the fonts mssong and mingliu, can see the characters on the keyboard, but not in the documents. any idea? thanks!

Furthermore, is there a problem with song or mingliu font with WM5? Cause I can't get it to work no matter how I try.

This software is only for input purpose,u still need chinese viewer software install on your machine.

Hmm... can read chinese, but d-input does not work on my rw6828...

I am currently using o2 atom. Can you explain how to edit this?
I have installed registry editor but can only change the values instead of the details.How to edit the deatils in bold?

REG_DWORD just indicate the Key Type

However from my testing on O2 Mini.. This key is not requried .....who know...no harm putting it though

NOTE these are registry confguration...YOu will need to Add or Change the registry info that is in your PPC.
As such you need registry editor for PPC to add/ mod. If you don't see the directory structure (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft...) most likey you are not using a Registry Editor for PPC.. There are a number of free registry editor. that you can download and install


However if you don't understand it is best that you get CEStar...etc in order for you to read chinese..as editing the registry is DANGEROUS...it might req you to do a HARD Reset.

this worked on my xda 2 mini...

1. go to this key

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]

2. enter new String value.

Value name is "Tahoma"
the other field put "\\windows\\Fonts\\mssong.ttf,Stone_Song"

3. go up one level to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft]

4. create new key. named it "FontPath"
your path becomes this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FontPath]

5. enter new String value.

Value name is "FontPath"
the other field put "\\Storage\\windows\\Fonts"

soft reset. ta-da!

but i got a problem ...the font made the english letters look crappy..anyway to circumvent this? make everything so small

When i remove the keys added and softrest it goes back to default font (aka Tahoma)

You can try with other fonts..
I am currently using SimHei.ttf instead of mssong.ttf

what is key does is that it will continue to Default Font (aka Tahoma) but on the event that the chars cannot be found...mssong will be used instead.
so resulting in Tahoma and MSSong combo..English Letter will be by Tahoma while Chinese will be MSSong but i cannot seem to get it to work on O2 Mini (200SE)..It might work on WM5.

just go trendsmobile.com and download the chinese font patch.
effectively the same thing, smaller package and less chances of screwing up your registry.

Navigate on the right side, go to the 'PPC Software' under 'Free Software', download the 'Mandarin Composer v2.0'.

Just sharing a simple way of going around
Just load the CE-star into your ppc
Since CE-Star is a free reader (not writter) it already has all the necessary fonts and combined with this d-Ear 10-key Input...whoala can read and write already..
Note: my method might not be very good and should be memory exhausive but simple and no need to touch on the registry...(correct me if i am wrong)

Unfortunately, users report that CE Star 2.8 (only meant for WM5) seems to screw up the device after it expires.

But i also tried the same method on 2 WM5.0 devices, the 818 and exec
it seems to work fine on the 818 but not on the exec though..
BTW, when u say it "screw up the device", like what ways?

download which software only ppc 2002 and ppc 2003? no window mobile 2005.

Version 2.5 is the last update for WM2003SE and below while version 2.8 is meant for WM5.
