Downloaded the 2003 version but when I tried to install by clicking on the exe file, got an error message saying that it's not a valid PPC application. What could be the problem? But I managed to install the font patch though. Strange. Anyone has this problem on their Atom Exec? Thanks.

After the registry edit in a WM5.0 device, you will need to power off the device for 20 seconds before soft resetting the device coz the purpose of powering off the device for 20 seconds is to flush the registry edits to the ROM so if you soft reset immediately after applying the registry edits, the edits might not get flushed to the ROM and then its back to square one therefore just to be play safe, its best to power off the device for 20 seconds for the registry edits to be flushed to the ROM before soft resetting your device...

How about reinstall it on the same location as you used to be?
I've realised that my english sms were all gone and left with only chinese sms after about a week or so from installion of d-ear 10key on my p535.
I removed it from windows but the option still appears in SIP. Tried switched off ppc for 10mins, removed battery... then power on again. Same.
Reinstalled d-ear and it works as it used to be. English sms appears as usual.
I'm going to try it for sometime see if any more tricky problems...

It should be
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI]
"FontLinkMethods"="1"
REG_DWORD just indicate the Key Type
However from my testing on O2 Mini.. This key is not requried .....who know...no harm putting it though
as for
"Tahoma"="\\Storage\\windows\\Fonts\\mssong.ttf,Stone_Song"
Tahoma is the Key the value is "\\Storage\\windows\\Fonts\\mssong.ttf,Stone_Song"
rem to use "\\" not "\"
Sorry for any confusion..
Will this amendments to the registry works for WM2003SE? I have installed it and it worked very well for inputing but unable to read any chinese test upon keying in or for that matter chinese sms received. Any help appreciated.

If your d-Ear 10 Key SIP can't start, try removing \dEarFepModel\PY\d-Ear-uswd_Py.that

i'm refering to wm5, but it doesn't matter to you since you have got the d-ear working.
you need to install chinese fonts into your device to read chinese, there are many ways to do it, search for it in the forum, you will be able to find the answer.

Nope. It has been tested before that you can't see the chinese words. The best I can is to use pocketmusic which can show file name in chinese.

I use this d-ear 10 key sip but i can't find certain chinese words like "yin xing" as in invisible & words like "jia" as in married.
Then I download another d-ear keyboard version (v1.7) from the main page & no problem finding those chinese words.

Wow, t9 chinese on my artemis at last! Many thanks to the thread starter. Now for 1 minor problem...whenever I change the sip to d-ear10key, I'm bugged with a message "Load font failed.", But after dismissing the message, I can write with d-ear10key. I'm using the sunfon.ttf fonts.
What was done on my artemis, with regards to Chinese reading and Writing.
- installed CEStar.
- changed to default sunglobe.ttf fonts to sunfon.ttf fonts instead. Procedure included installing sunfon.ttf + registry edits.
- sunglobe.ttf removed.
- installed the d-ear10key for ppc2003
- sip was available after a soft-reset.
Anyone had the same problem with the "load font failed" message? How to resolve this? Thanks!

The simplest and the fastest way I have found is using the fontpatch.cab and d-ear keyboard input software. One thing to take note of is that you need to install the fontpatch.cab first before the d-ear input software. Works fine for WM5 Atom Pure and WM6 Dopod 838 pro.

Though is free but must monitor closely for the initial use.
have install it to my sis Atom exec, everything seems to be fine.
But the actually fact is that, she is no longer able to receive incoming calls and sms.
When we uninstall the de-ear, then she is able to. But the fontpatch constantly hang her device.
Until I remove the fontpatch, then everything back to normal again.

Thanks for the reminder but thank goodness I have not face any of the problems you have mentioned. I have sent and received sms both in English and Chinese with no problems thus far. That's for my Atom Pure. I have yet to hear from my colleague how it performs on his Dopod 838pro but I guess no news is good news.
I will continue to monitor and report if something strange happens.
