Dear members,
PPCSG has made changes to Windows Mobile related and Other Tech Gear forums of Buy & Sell. In a bid to deter traders from peddling their ware in this member-only area, only members with a
post count of 50 or more has access to these forums. However, PPCSG Supporters have access to the forum regardless of post count.
That said, we see the need for companies and traders to advertise their products with lesser restrictions (within the laws of Singapore, of course) in PPCSG. Hence, we have set up
Trading Post for this purpose and access to this forum is by subscription. Subscription increases your private message capacity to 200 and you'll be able to upload images up to 10MB to showcase your products. Additionally, there is the benefit of higher share of voice in this dedicated forum.
For access to this area, go to your
control panel for subscription to the PPCSG Advertiser package. Charges are at a nominal fee of USD10 per month.

The way I see it, the minimum 50 post count rule has a good side effect of promoting people to be more active & share in the forums. Let's just hope that people do not post useless remarks just to increase the post count.
But as far as the Buy & Sell issue is concerned, this is still a good solution - the lesser of two evils. :)

Hi Templar,
I agree with you.
Guess both of us got caught out by this 50 posting counts. But that means that we have to be more vocal in our thoughts.
Just glad that there is a resolution to this issue.
Kudos to the PPCSG Admin team!!!

there might be a need to have a clearer set of regulations as the one now is too brief! :)

Hi CheeWee and PPCSG team,
I think overall it's a good idea. It stops people/traders creating multiple accounts, selling their stuff and disappear, overall protecting the legit users
I do think that on top of the 50 posts you can allow people who have less than 50 posts and have been members for more than 1 year (or maybe more or less) to post in Buy and Sell as well.
This will stop a massive increase in useless posts just because legitimate members might want to sell stuff. This new rule also penalises existing long PPCSG members.
What do u think???

Hi Makuk,
Thank you for your suggestion, we appereciate it. Let's look at it, if by only allowing members to be here over a year or even 6 months before they can post will be too long, we considered this as well, however we felt that with the latest regulations should help reduce the abuse of the Buy & Sell forums.
We have already re-launched the regulations, let's go with this and see what happens. Let's get Buy & Sell back on the road and if there are abuse, please do highlight to us. You can PM us or post it in the feedback forums.
Again thank you for your interest and suggestion. Let's keep the community fun!
Rgds,
Echelon for PPCSG Team

I'm confused now. I have... less than 50 posts (looks like 26 before this one), and I've been on the forum for less than a year (almost a year, though.)
I can still see buy/sell stuffs. *blink.*

Hi all,
After we have just implemented the changes, members with more than 50 posts will still need to make 1 post to trigger the auto-promotion of the user group. This will enable you to access Buy & Sell.
For members with less than 50 posts, you will need to participate in the community till you reach the required post. However, if the PPCSG team catches any member spamming the forum to get promoted, we will either ban the account or reset the post count to zero.

I am appealing to the mods to let me post 1 ad only 1 ad to sell my HP 6365 for starhub. I only have 21 post and I join this forum in 2004. I recently bought an Atom and is trying to recover the cost.

this is a good ruling. Let's abide by the rules. If you're not active, then you will not get the benefits of the forums. So just suck it in people. This is the rule of the forums....
Great work PPCSG, keep it up!

You can always use the "REPRT" button or PM one of the moderators online and request for the thread to be closed/deleted. Well, even members with more than 50 posts do not have the ability to edit/delete a thread even if they are the thread-starter.

I have one concern on the requirement for a minimum of 50 posts. Wouldn't it reduce the traffic at the buy/sell forums for legitimate people? Fewer good deals for 2nd hand gadgets, for those who want to buy them? And for those who are selling their items, they would go elsewhere, like hardwarezone. Overall popularity of the forum would drop (and less advertising revenue for PPCSG). Then on the other hand, if people are more active in the forums (and not spamming), maybe the advantages will cancel out???
