Hi Everyone,

Further to my earlier post about "cause" of the my Atom's inability to perform FM radio record, I've found by trial and error an ad-hoc solution to those who want to have changed their Today font size AND want to enjoy use of the radio record function:

1. Use a registry editor to access HKLM\ControlPanel\Stylus\96DPI\CurFont.

2. Delete CurFont.

3. Delete 96DPI.

4. DO NOT SOFT RESET. If you do so, the CurFont and 96DPI keys will be restored and you don't want that.

5. You'll have to repeat the steps each time you soft reset. If you don't use the record function open, the steps may be done just before you need to record.

You should now be able to use the FM radio record function.

Don't ask me how text font size affects radio, but this works for me! Hope it's helpful to those who need it (doesn't seem like there are many!) smile.gif

cheers,
tim

How about this:

Assuming you are using PHM RegistryEdit

go to HKLM\ControlPanel\Stylus\96DPI\CurFont
make the changes by deleting CurFont and 96DPI
click on HKLM\ControlPanel\Stylus and select Export
save file as AtomFM.reg in miniSD card

Use FileExplorer and move the AtomFM.reg to \windows\startup\
And everytime you do a soft reset, the registry file will execute and replace the registry key

NOTE: Backup your device before you attempt this.

Wow thanks I tried it but it didn't seem to work. The reg files are automatically deleted as you correctly predicted but for some reason the font size reverts to the original default (which is too small for me). Still, it's a brilliant way to auto-update the registry which will probably work for other tweaks! wink.gif

With a little experimenting, you should be able to work a solution that suits you, maybe even change the font size, make that a .reg file and include that in the \windows\startup\

River Valley area...so far have not had problems with radio reception, wherever I've been...it's not brilliant, but it's good enough for me...

To delete or change registry settings with a Windows Mobile device, you must not use the reset button.

This will simply restore your last good settings prior to the modifications.

The best way to keep your modifications intact is to use a software that will soft reset your unit. In Spb Pocket Plus, there is a folder in the programs folder where you can find shortcuts. One of them is soft reset. Use this instead and your changes will be remembered.

You can also use the power off feature of certain devices to properly shut down the device and remember the state... as in the Dopod 838.

Another good reset app is the feature found in Memaid.

Quick note on the radio nrecording function

I just did a hard reset on the test Atom I have.

I did a hard reset without a SIM card in it.

After the whole reset process was completed, I plugged in the headphones and fired up the FM Radio. I did a recording and it works.

I did another hard reset. This time with my SMART Communications SIM card in it.

The whole reset process loaded up the preferences associated with the SIM that was recognized... The radio will not record any program...

I removed the SIM once again, did a hard reset... it now records...

Something wrong with the auto configurator here...

With the sim on a hard reset... every hard reset would give me a different result...

Sometimes it could record, sometimes it couldn't.

Here is what you have to look for...

When you open Internet Explorer Mobile, look at the home page...

Normally you'll see your carrier's link just before the O2 Connect image...

If this is present, then the autoconfiguration software did its job of plugging in registry values... which may include the wrong values that prevent you from recording your radio programs.
