anyone knows how much it cost to get it unlocked?
also, data 5 tariff is only a data plan right.. which makes sense to get that becoz i would not be using the line anyway.. getting the cheapest should be the right thing...

at the moment they say you could ask O2 to get it unlocked at 15 pounds but some are saying this option is not possible if you buy with the line so gotta make sure.
anyways i think they will have unlocking tools for the universal in due time. so you just gotta wait it out.
and data 5 tariff is the cheapest plan of all the lot. it depends on how you work it out with your friend, if he is gettin it for you and he already has a line, then its alright. but if he doesnt have a line, it would be nice for you to ask him to use the 8 pounds a month to subsidize his own line. at least its a win win situation for both of you.

I was carrying a Treo 600 before and I can tell you these devices ARE EXPECTED to cock up once in a while. Touch wood.
I rather play safe than go around hunting for a phone and stay in Limbo land when the thing goes dead or something.
It is all dependent on a person's personality, if you are those gung-ho type who can solve any type of problems...then it is okay.
I am rather sceptical of durability of such high tech devices...THEY ARE EXPECTED to cause problems if you are a heavy user.

Everyone's mileagle varies. :) Two phones for the price of one is ridiculous though, I am more than willing to risk it in this case, the sums add up nicely.

Is it true that though a higher plan is signed, after 6 months can downgrade?

customs issue depends on country or pricing/description put on the "delivery" package?

Hi guys..my friend is bringing me 3 sets of O2 Exec from UK tomorrow. I've just called up the Customs and they referred me to IDA. The guy at IDA said the sets won't be able to come in. He said will need their stamp and approval. I'll have to bring the approval down to the customs and then the customs people will decide whether to let the sets pass through. If not they will detain them or make me re-export them back. Does anyone knows how true this is? He said even one set will need to have approval.

Yes I do. My Exec is here. Nothing to do with customs, nothing to do with IDA cause I didn't intend to profit from my phone.
What are we supposed to do everytime we buy a phone in HK/Taiwan/somewhere, go to IDA and get approval? Come on guys, some common sense please. Anything is legal, until you get caught and I don't think they can be bothered to clam down on every
single (not multiple sets) phone that's not IDA approved coming into Singapore.

well i don't know man you kinda triggered them off as to when you will be gettin it so its kinda hard to say if they'll be doing anything.
i don't think there is a problem with brinign in a phone as you can say its for personal use but 3? that's kinda pushing it though.

You're bringing in the phones for profit (I'm assuming). It is not safe to bring 3 sets of the same phone into Singapore.
