Guys, you might find this app I wrote useful, TodayButton

It allows you to jump to your Today screen by holding down a hardware button (eg Record), but when you let go, it takes you back to the application you were using before (eg TomTom). Useful for one finger access to today screen (eg while driving).

Another version can be used to switch on your PocketPC from off.
eg PPC is off. Hold down record button wakes up PPC, shows your today screen, and when you let go of record button it switches off again. Good for very quick glances at Today. However, this version doesn't work perfectly yet...

hi achew,

if you HOLD the button, it will get you to the Today screen, release it, it will return back to where you are...

if you HOLD on the button and tap some stuff in your Today screen (ie read one SMS), it won't work anymore if you release the button...means if you release the button, it will still stay in your Inbox screen...

correct me if i am wrong, Vijay...

If you have SPB Pocket Plus, you can assign a button for that "alt+tab" function.

hi achew,

if I am not wrong, the Alt-Tab function is ONLY available in Spb Pocket Plus ver 3...to double confirm, click on Start, Settings, Buttons, and on the 2.Assign a program: drop down list, see if you can find this function [Switch Programs (Alt-Tab)]

if you can't find it, its only exclusive for Spb Pocket Plus ver 3.0

Guys,
This is beta for now, although generally works (the PowerOff version has problems, the other one is fine).

Basically, assign the TodayButton using Control Panel > Buttons.
Then, press and hold the assigned button to jump to today screen. Let go to go back to the program you were in before. It doesn't work in games etc that re-assign the button configurations (so not like Alt-tab).

If you want to click on something etc in your today screen, the best way is to click on the little "i" icon in the Top Left of your window. You will now stay in your Today screen. If you just click on something without clicking on the "i", no problem, although it will take a few seconds before your Harware buttons go back to normal. Normally not a problem.
