Full Version: The truth about battery extender foils

It's interesting how the saga of battery extender foils unfold. Earlier this year in January, we ran a blurb on the effectiveness of these amazing contraptions that stick to the back of your mobile device battery. Manufacturers of such foils claim that they will help to extend the battery life. In fact, even some PPCSG members claims that they work. However, these findings are merely based on their observations.

To set the record straight once and for all, Tom's Hardware recently ran detailed benchmark and testing on one such "wonder foil" and pretty much concluded that it worked as well as any car decals. So before you plonk SGD17 on a Martin Fields Overlay Plus Power Extender, think again. That may just be money down the drain. Remember, if it is too good to be true, it usually is.

Finally, a definitive test to set the facts straight, once and for all. w00t.gif

Yup. No more "it only kicks in the last 30%" kind of comments. cool.gif Someone needs to send this to DOML.

Heh, guess I was right:

Well, tried the Martin Field's one before, all I have to say is I think it works about as well as trying to make the sail boat you're sitting in to go faster by blowing on the sail....

I have been a sceptic all these years and did not (fortunately) put my hard earned money to this so-called wonder add on.

I am indeed very curious if anything can be done about this sort of unfounded claims which could tantamount to fraud. What else could that be anyway? And it is not cheap too.

Damn.. i swear by my martin fields power extender u know? lolz..
Funny, there was a report by Mobileburn.com on the martin fields power extender here..
http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Page=1&Id=445

Fyi, u noticed the one tom's hardware tested was sticking the glittery side facing outwards..
coz they stuck the sticker on the battery..
but the instructions for MF power extender is to stick in the battery receptable.
so that the glittery side faces the battery..

either they instructions got mixed up or it's totally different verisons of power extenders?
Eugene
If the "glitter" works as claimed (to generate "cavity radiation") it would not matter which side it was facing.

Assuming that the radiation actually gets generated, how much radio frequency energy would be needed? And if ions were generated, there ought to be a health warning, since ionising radiation (radioactivity, beta radiation, gamma radiation) is known to be dangerous to living tissue.

Any perceived improvement is but a placebo effect.
PPCGF
Question is, does this thing really work at all? I am still curious as many users seems be to convinced it does work.

Quite a number of PPCSGers here seems to be too.

It's nothing but a placebo effect. None of the PPCSG members actually ran tests in controlled tests. Those are merely based on their "observations".

Let's just say when you've bought something, you want to justify the purchase. Many people including myself fall prey to this.
