It looks like Asus has joined in the party to offer devices with VGA screens. Though not as petite as HTC Touch Diamond, Asus P565 is powered by a Marvell Tavor processor running at 800MHz.

The device runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and is equipped with GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA (up to 3.6Mbps). It also features 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, a 2.8" VGA screen, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, WiFi 802.11b/g, USB v1.1, SiRF Star III GRS chipset, a 3.0 megapixel camera, a microSD slot and a 1300mAh battery. It measures 102×60.5×16mm and weighs 120g.

But its 128MB Ram, I wonder if this will cause imprefection even though the Processor speed is 800mhz?

didn't say if it will have flash...

almost same size with O2 life... but thinner..

sadly only 128MB

my guess is that it is this Processor and it support up to 5mp...

The flush screen cover is deceptive but the screen is the same size as my D810 but the device is wider. Breaks my fundamental rule of not being smaller than my 2 year old phone.

One of the games I play on my D810 is called free up some program space .... I would be keen to go for more than 128mb (from 64).

Kinda mid range but with big processor. Nice to see more competition in this form factor. Always nice to see more "I am not a wanabee iPhone" phones.

I read Star III thing as being GPS not GPRS?

Edited the typo mistake. Thanks for pointing it out.

they should really put in more ram since that processor they are using supports up to 1GB of ram if i am not wrong. I meant, not asking they to put 1GB la, but at least on par with some of the new phones which are 288mb, even 192mb also happy...

but hey, seriously speaking, who use the phone in such a way that they will used up 128mb of the ram, i think none... even if there are, its those that dont shut down their applications after using it and when the list of applications piled up in the task list...

although having said that, of course the more the merrier...

This is a very similar spec to the Gigabyte GSmart coming out at the same time. The only things better about the GSmart is Quad band, has HSUPA and has USB 2.0. The P565 has a faster processor and is smaller.

There currently seems to be a misalignment between processor power and display requirements. Most VGA devices get reviews as being a little slower than we would like (like the HTC Diamond).

Does anyone know about the GPU side of things .... how many phones have a dedicated GPU?
