Hey guys... I'd like to hear what your experiences have been finding a decent music player. That's the last thing i'd really like to have working well.

My experience (I'm on H1 now): I've found that Touch Player freezes up or goes dogass slow almost every time i use it. I'll hit a button and it will literally take 5-10 seconds for it to register as pressed. I am trying CorePlayer (per suggestions from this forum earlier), but trying to build/scan my library it will freeze up and take up like all system resources. I'm guessing it's STILL trying to build the database, but how long should this take? I gave it 15-20 mins before pulling the plug. I have about 720 songs (reduced significantly to try to get it working).

Does anyone have any player working well? How big is your library? Any tricks?

Thanks.

I keep my songs in the following manner and, FYI, I do NOT create any playlist

Category in folders - Chinese, Cantonese, English, Mixed

then I further break them down into folders based on the artiste's name except for the Mixed category. Even in the mixed category I'll still store them in Mix 1, Mix 2 etc folders

Each time I only need to load the songs from an artiste's folder

As for music player so far I've tested Conduits Pocket Player, CorePlayer and Pocket Tunes. All can handle A2DP but NOT AVRCP. This could be due to the fact that the HTC plugin intercepts the AVRCP commands and prevents others from detecting the commands.

Only the default WMP can handle AVRCP commands

I suppose the developers for their music players will find a way to circumvent this issue soon

Meantime CorePlayer is still MY BEST!!! w00t.gif

FYI, Conduits Pocket Player does support AVRCP. In the older versions, an additional file needs to be "installed" in order for that to happen. But in the latest verion, the file has already been included in the core installer package.

Personally, I give Pocket Player a BIG thumbs up for unicode playlist support and A2DP/AVRCP support. No other 3rd party media player does it better.

Conduits Pocket Player's AVRCP does NOT work with the HTC TOUCH PRO. Go and check out their website

Oh yah....probably because HTC Audio Manager (media player in TouchFLO 3D) is consuming all the AVRCP commands. Anyway, it is worth a try with TF3D disabled.

BTW, did you test a 3rd-party music player's AVRCP controls without the TF enabled ?

I am not spending time on software I don't need when I'm not even close to installing all the software that I need.

Aha!

I give my vote to Coreplayer!
