Full Version: HTC Diamond word completion problem

Hi I realised my HTC Diamond word completion is not functioning like my other phone Dopod 838pro. When I key in words in sms, it does not show or prompt the words. Anyone facing the same problem?

Even when entering names under "To:" it does not list down the names like the 838pro.

Anyway to resolve this?
Bright
Try this.

Edit your registry:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409

Ime File = \windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = COMP IME

This should help you with getting word suggestions. (works for me)

To restore

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409

Ime File = \windows\eT9Ime.dll
Layout Text = eT9 IME

compime.dll is the one that provides the auto-completion and word suggestions. If your device doesn't provide all these function, likely a customised keyboard software has been installed for your phone (e.g. the T9 ime, the chinese ime, etc) and thus replace the default setting.

Some software uses another locale layout so it may not necessary be the registry key e0010409 that you need to modify.

you have to first check what keyboard layout is being defined as the default layout loaded by the device \hkcu\keyboard layout\preloaded.

but remember when you change this registry, most likely the customised keyboard software that was installed previously will not work.

Omnia does not have the compime.dll file in the Windows folder... I think this doesnt work on Omnia. Thanks for the advise.

Cheers

the file is a default windows system file, I would be surprise if Samsung took it out. did you use Desktop windows explorer to look? Using the pocket file explorer would show up apparently, even if you choose to see all hidden files

modify registry e0010409 is device dependent, some other device may be modifying on the different key.

first of all check what's the default value in the reg key \hkcu\keyboard layouts\preload ?

The thread-starter was asking about the Name prediction for the recipient field in the messaging application. But somehow, the thread continuation seems to be about word completion/prediction. The name prediction can still fail to work even if the word completion is working, doesn't it?

rayyang81, have you checked whether your word completion function is working?

vicott, the name prediction is a function of compime.dll .... if you have word completion function, you should have name prediction. Unless, the alternative ime also provides word completion (as in many cases)

anyway, the title also ask about word completion :P

if i compare with my Touch's word completion speed, Diamond loses. It is a bit bit bit bit bit laggy (chi2 dun4) :P so the word will come up...but after my patience times out.
